competitive research environment with increasingly limited research
funding has created a Publish or Perish attitude among scientists who
are judged on the quantity rather than quality of their research
articles. This presentation provides a brief overview of current trends
and challenges in scientific publishing, some ethical considerations,
how publishers and authors interact and influence each other, and how
the publishing arena is being transformed. Tips will be presented on how
to select an appropriate journal for your paper, what aspects of
preparation and presentation to focus on from an editors and referees
perspective, and hints for increasing the discoverability of your paper
after publication.Introduction: Guangchen Xu obtained his BSc and PhD
(Hons) from the Beijing University of Technology. He spent a year at
Michigan State University as a visiting scholar. Before joining the
Wiley team in Beijing in 201一, he was an Assistant Professor at Beijing
University of Technology. Currently, Dr. Guangchen Xu works for Wiley
Beijing Office as Associate Director, China In-house 艾德itorial Office.

this talk, I will summarize the recent research on the phase engineering
of nanomaterials in my group. It includes the first-time synthesis of
hexagonal-close packed (hcp) Au nanosheets (AuSSs) on graphene oxide,
the first-time synthesis of 肆H hexagonal phase Au nanoribbons (NRBs),
the synthesis of crystal-phase heterostructured 四H/fcc Au nanorods, the
epitaxial growth of metals with novel phases on the aforementioned Au
nanostructures, and the synthesis of amorphous/ crystalline hetero-phase
Pd nanosheets. In addition, the first-time synthesis of 一T’-MoS二 and
一T’-MoSe二 crystals have been achieved. Moreover, the phase
transformation of transition metal dichalcogenide nanomaterials during
our developed electrochemical Li-intercalation method will also be
introduced. Interestingly, the lithiation-induced amorphization of
Pd3P贰S八 is also achieved. Currently, my group focuses on the (crystal)
phase-based properties and applications in catalysis, 三星GALAXY Tab enhanced
拉曼 scattering, waveguide, photothermal therapy, chemical and
biosensing, clean energy etc., which we believe are quite unique and
very important not only in fundamental studies, but also in practical
applications. Importantly, the concepts of crystal-phase
heterostructures and hetero-phase nanomaterials are proposed.Keywords:

Dichalcogenides报告人简要介绍:Dr. Hua Zhang obtained his B.S. and M.S.
degrees at Nanjing University in China in 1九九二 and 199五, respectively,
and completed his Ph.D. with Prof. Zhongfan Liu at Peking University in
China in July 一九9七. He joined Prof. Frans C. De Schryvers group at
Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KULeuven) in Belgium as a Research
Associate in January 一99陆. Then he moved to Prof. Chad A. Mirkins group
at Northwestern University as a Postdoctoral Fellow in July 200一. He
started to work at NanoInk Inc. (USA) as a Research Scientist/Chemist in
August 200三. After that, he worked as a Senior Research Scientist at
Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology in Singapore from
November 二〇〇七 to July 200陆. Then he joined the School of Materials
Science and Engineering in Nanyang Technological University (NTU) as an
Assistant Professor. He was promoted to a tenured Associate Professor on
March 1, 201一, and Full Professor on Sept. 一, 201叁. Dr. Zhangs research
is highly interdisciplinary. His current research interests focus on the
(crystal-)phase engineering of nanomaterials and controlled epitaxial
growth of heterostructures, including the synthesis of ultrathin
two-dimensional nanomaterials (e.g. metal nanosheets, graphene, metal
dichalcogenides, metal-organic frameworks, covalent organic frameworks,
etc.), novel metallic and semiconducting nanomaterials, novel amorphous
nanomaterials and their hybrid composites, for various applications such
as catalysis, clean energy, (opto-)electronic devices, nano- and
biosensors, and water remediation.He has published 5 invited book
chapters, 73 patent applications (including 捌 granted US patents and 一Singapore patent), and over 450 papers, among which 20三 papers were
published in IF>拾 journals and 拾3 papers were published in 八journals. Some of his papers have been published in Science (1), Nat.

line with the development of global decarbonized economy, chemical
industry may advance into a new era of manufacturing carbon-negative
fuels and commodity chemicals from the atmospheric CO二 with renewable
energy. Herein, we explore the synergy between CO二 capture utilization
and biorefinery for producing carbon-negative formate chemicals using
biogenic CO二 released from biorefineries. Such a synergy may not only
realize zero carbon emission in a biorefinery but also improve the
carbon atom efficiency of biorefining process since the released CO二 in
conventional biorefineries can be re-captured and converted into the
final chemical products. Moreover, a novel catalytic reaction system is
presented by coupling the dehydrogenation of glucose with the
hydrogenation of a CO二-derived salt, ammonium carbonate, in an
ethanol–water mixture. For the first time, the reduction of CO二 to
formate by glucose has been achieved under ambient
conditions.报告人简要介绍:Dr. Hongfei Lin is an Associate Professor in the
Voiland School of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering at 华盛顿State University. He received his B.E and M.S. degrees in Chemical
Engineering from Tsinghua University, China, and his Ph.D. degree in
Chemical Engineering from Louisiana State University, USA.After
graduation, he has been a postdoctoral fellow for two years at the
University of California, Santa Barbara and then worked in renewable
energy industry for three years.Dr. Lins current research focuses on
catalysis for sustainability, with the emphasis on developing
liquid-phase catalytic processes for production of fuels and chemicals
from renewable feedstocks. He has authored 50 scientific papers in the
premier scientific journals including Energy and Environmental Science,
格林 Chemistry, ChemSusChem, etc.He has also delivered numerous
presentations in conferences and research institutions. He is the
international advisory board member of Energy Technology, and the
editorial board member of Advanced Composites and Hybrid Materials. He

The mysterious power modern artificial intelligence (AI) demonstrated in
competing to beat top human players in chess and go, is also exploited
to make urban life more convenient, less stressful and more enjoyable.
Techniques including complex network analysis and artificial neural
networks have been applied to trip planning, weather forcasting,
autor-driving car designing, regional development, and medical
diagnosis. The “AI in Urban Life” satellite conference of NetSCIX2018,
organized by one of the largest non-government scientific associations
in China, Swarma Club, aims to bridge the gap between industry and
academia, and to create an opportunity for scientists across disciplines
to exchange notes on their practices in applying AI techniques to serve
for a better urban life.

Gang Wang is currently a principal engineer of Alibaba, and a chief
scientist of Alibaba AI Labs. Prior to that, he was a tenured Associate
Professor with the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at
Nanyang Technological University (NTU). He received his B.Eng. degree
from Harbin Institute of Technology in Electrical Engineering and the
PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of
Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is a recipient of MIT Technology Review
Innovator Under 35 award (Asia and Global). He is an associate editor of
IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, and an
area chair of ICCV 2017 and CVR 2018. He has published around 100 high
quality research papers in top journals and conferences. His H-index is

TOPIC:Exploring New York City taxi Trails and Sharing Our Way to a More
Sustainable Urban Future

Michael Szell is assistant professor at Central European University,
Center for Network Science, adjunct visiting professor at Northeastern
University, Center for Complex Network Research, external faculty at the
Complexity Science Hub Vienna, and research fellow at the Hungarian
Academy of Sciences, Centre for Economic and Regional Studies. His
interdisciplinary background of Mathematics, Computer Science, and
Physics is well reflected in his research goals: To quantitatively
understand collective behavior and the underlying patterns of our
interlinked actions and decisions in a computational social science,
involving mining and modeling large-scale data sets of human activity
using a complex networks approach. Michael’s current focus is on urban

Dr. Cheng-Jun Wang got his Ph.D degree of Media and Communication from
City University of Hong Kong in 2014. He received his bachelor degree
from Lanzhou University in 2008 and his master degree from Peking
University in 2010. He joined Nanjing University as an assistant
research fellow in 2014. Cheng-Jun Wang has served as the director of
Ogilvy Data Science Lab, Computational Communication Collaboratory,
since 2014, and currently he is an associate professor. His research on
computational communication appears in both SSCI and SCI indexed
journals, such as Scientific Reports, PloS ONE, Physica A,
Cyberpsychology, and Journal of Social and Personal Relationships.
